Role summary

This role involves working with the Research Team to support the safe conduct of paediatric research, ensuring compliance with regulations and Good Clinical Practice. The post holder will coordinate and drive patient recruitment for clinical trials, manage and coordinate trials collaboratively, and provide expert direction and support to staff. Key responsibilities include assessing, planning, and providing ongoing care for research participants while adhering to study protocols. The role also involves problem-solving and ensuring research is conducted safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with the Research Team to support the safe conduct of research in accordance with UK Clinical Trials Regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Undertake, coordinate, and drive a team in the recruitment of patients to clinical trials.
  • Manage and coordinate clinical trials collaboratively with research and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Be accountable for the assessment, planning, organisation, and on-going care of research participants, maximising compliance with study/trial protocol.
  • Provide expert direction, support, supervision, and management of staff, assisting with training to ensure protocol and practice guideline conformity.
  • Coordinate services with various healthcare partners and adhere to flexible working patterns to meet service needs.

Essential criteria

  • Registered Children's Nurse/AHP with medicines management and paediatrics experience
  • UK NMC registration
  • Educated to degree (relevant subject) or specialist equivalent/demonstrable experience
  • ICH-GCP certificate or willingness to undertake
  • Mandatory training NHS clinical systems (electronic) ICH GCP
  • Significant post qualification experience to include academic and commercial clinical trials in paediatrics
  • Research trials experience to include commercial and academic clinical trial experience
  • Good understanding of research
  • Conversant with DoH Research Governance Framework for Health and Social Care, ICH GCP and the European Union Clinical Trials Directive & Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Good computer literacy including email and internet
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage own time and workload with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a self -directed manner whilst also contributing to and working as a team member
  • Ability to perform tasks to a high level of detail and accuracy Excellent organisational skills

Job summary
