Role summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Nursing Support Worker on Cadog ward at Glangwili Hospital. The role focuses on caring for frail patients, particularly those with dementia, aiming to improve their experience. You will promote patient independence by focusing on mobility, nutrition, and hydration to maximize functional ability. The role involves working alongside nursing and therapy teams, including night and day duties, seven days a week.

Essential criteria

  • Level 3 qualification in a health care related subject Or Equivalent experience and can evidence work based competency demonstrating theoretical knowledge, and the ability to undertake clinical care duties relevant for the role which is gained through experience and worked based training/short courses.
  • Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales and All Wales Delegation Guidelines (HEIW).
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within a healthcare setting for example the principles of Safeguarding adults/children to keep patients within their care safe, and confidentiality for example General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
  • Experience of working within a relevant health or social care environment, providing direct patient care.

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Nursing Support Worker on Cadog ward, Glangwilli Hospital, Carmarthen.

The post offers the opportunity to develop your skills and experience in caring for frail patients. Dementia and frailty are a growing challenge within healthcare, and we, as healthcare professionals are at the forefront of providing the dignity, support and care that people deserve. The aim of the role would be to improve the patient experience. You would be expected to promote the patients' independence by focusing on their mobility, nutrition and hydration in order to maintain and maximize their functional ability.

Main duties of the job

The post holder should hold an NVQ level 3 in Health related qualification or equivalent experience. They will need to demonstrate that they have good communication skills and that they are an excellent team player as well as being able to work alone. They will be expected to work alongside both the nursing and the therapies team.

The post will include working 7 days a week, with night and day duty.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
