Role summary
This role is for a qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) within the BSW Talking Therapies Service in Swindon. The post involves delivering low-intensity psychological therapies, primarily via telephone or video, with some face-to-face appointments. You will conduct assessments, provide structured treatments for common mental health problems, and participate in clinical supervision and team meetings. The service operates a hybrid working model, combining remote work with on-site presence in Swindon.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver a minimum of 20 hours a week (pro rata) of direct clinical work, providing stepped care primary psychology services.
- Plan, organise, and teach psycho-educational courses, potentially including out-of-hours work.
- Maintain and forge community links, and develop a resources bank for the team.
- Participate in service business and professional meetings, complying with Trust policies and professional codes of conduct.
- Support and participate in Clinical Governance activities, including multidisciplinary audit and promoting effective interventions.
- Enter data into surgery computer and IAPTUS systems, undertake mandatory training, and participate in supervision and research activities.
Essential criteria
- Qualification as a PWP (Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner) or eligible for accreditation with the BPS/BABCP as a PWP or eligible for accreditation as a CBT therapist with the BABCP and registration with the relevant professional body
- Experience of working with adults who have experienced a mental health problem
- Experience in stepped care approaches.
- Understanding of risk management / safety planning
- High standard of verbal and written communication
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Experience using computer packages for remote working
- Ability to work in a hybrid working environment
- Empathy for individuals who have experienced mental health problems and ability to cope with behaviour that may be challenging at times.
Desirable criteria
- Experience working with voluntary agencies, and local community services.
- Experience working with diversity and knowledge of adaptations
- Experience facilitating groups
- Experience with computerised CBT packages

Please note, we are currently operating a hybrid working approach incorporating remote working and working face-to-face, from the community and our base in Swindon. Applicants will be expected to travel to the base as required.
The BSW Talking Therapies Service is a community based primary care psychology service working with our GP partners to provide low and high intensity therapy.
Our PWPs offer appointments to service users from base in Swindon and remotely from home. Appointments are mainly by telephone or video call with some face to face appointments being offered. Our integrated working supports close clinical contacts and a team based working environment with other health professionals.
We are a friendly and supportive team with a strong focus on staff wellbeing.
