Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic and adaptable Senior Public Health Assistant - Early Years to join the Health Visiting service, supporting families with children aged nought to five in Kent. The post holder will deliver the healthy child programme, focusing on child development, play, learning, and language development. It involves understanding growth, completing development reviews, providing advice, and escalating concerns. The role is community-based and requires working as part of a team.
Key responsibilities
- Understand and identify healthy normal growth and development in children.
- Complete development reviews using the ages and stages questionnaire.
- Provide appropriate responses and advice to clients, parents/carers, and families.
- Escalate concerns when required.
- Attend and contribute to team meetings.
- Build relationships with colleagues to enhance the team working environment.
Essential criteria
- A level 5 foundation degree level of study in child development or equivalent experience
- Recent experience of child development gained through education, work experience or previous employment.
- Sound communication skills in order to understand and communicate both verbally and in writing whilst being mindful of potential language, learning needs and cultural differences
- A customer focussed approach which is essential to provide clients and their families with the best possible experience
- Work together with colleagues and teams across the Trust
- Able to use IT systems and databases
- Know when you are within your own limits and when to escalate
- Able to demonstrate a good level of knowledge in child development

We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable Senior Public Health Assistant - Early Years to join our Health Visiting service to deliver support to families (adults) with children aged nought to five in Kent.
You will need to be a confident and flexible practitioner, passionate about improving the health and well-being of children through delivery of the healthychild programme.
You will work as part of a team to keep children safe and well by having a good understanding of child development and the importance of play inchildren's lives, learning and language development.
