Role summary
This is a full-time development post for an Applied Psychologist within the Learning Disability (LD) CAMHS service, progressing from Band 7 to Band 8A. The role involves working with children and young people with learning disabilities and psychological needs as part of a multidisciplinary team. The postholder will receive supervision and support to develop skills in complex cases and contribute to the team's psychological functioning. There are opportunities for research and professional development, with flexibility in working patterns and base.
Essential criteria
- BSc/BA Honours degree at 2:2 or above in Psychology
- Post graduate Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling/ Forensic/ Health Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
- Evidence of regular continuing professional development through further professional training and experience, as required by the
- HCPC and the BPS
- Eligible for registration as a Chartered Psychologist by the BPS
- Registered with HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist
- I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
- Experience required specific to the role and clinical area.
- Experience of multi-agency and multi-disciplinary working
- Experience of conducting clinically relevant research
- Significant experience of supervised practice including working with families and care organisations
- Experience of assessing and providing a wide range of psychological interventions to a wide range of patients presenting with a full range of clinical severity
- Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for a patients psychological care and treatment

Job summary
As part of
the redesign of the Learning Disability (LD) CAMHS service we are recruiting to
a full-time psychology development post (band 7 to 8a).
The
postholder will initially be employed at band 7 and supported, through the use
of an individualised development plan, to attain the skills necessary to meet
the criteria to move into the band 8a post.
The small
LD CAMHS team now sits within Learning Disability Services and this fresh start
means it is a great time to join it to influence its future development. It also means there is now a clear learning
disability psychology structure to offer supervision and support to the
postholder and to ensure that time for their own professional development will remain
protected.
There will
be flexibility in terms of agreeing a working pattern and official base, with a
balance of working from home. Although
advertised as a full-time post we will consider 30 hours or more.
