Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a trained Nursery Nurse to join Jasmine Lodge MBU as a Lead Nursery Nurse. The role involves supporting babies and mothers experiencing acute perinatal mental health difficulties, providing management and mentoring to a team of Nursery Nurses. The successful candidate will deliver supervision, appraisals, and support professional development, ensuring gold standard care and safeguarding practices. This position requires strong clinical leadership skills and active involvement in operational policies and specialist therapeutic activities.
Essential criteria
- Significant experience of working within a parent and infant mental health setting
- Perinatal experience
- Mental health experience
- Knowledge of Safeguarding Legislation
- Able to undertake administrative tasks
- Able to work without direct supervision
- Ability to supervision tasks undertaken by junior staff
- Demonstrate leadership skills including audit and team development

- Insight into mental health difficulties related to child birth
- Degree in any of the following (or a health related degree): Early Years and Education Or Childhood Studies Or Childrens Care, Learning and Development Or Childcare and Education or Play Work Or equivalent experience

- NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education, BTEC National Diploma in Childrens Care, Learning and Development, Baby Bonding, Solihull Approach, Video Interactive Guidance, Watch Wait Wonder, Baby Massage & Yoga

- Able to perform and participate as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Able to communicate effectively verbally, in writing and electronically
- Able to work towards a competency framework
- Able to provide & receive sensitive information & communicate to other members of staff with sensitivity & compassion
- Able to deliver training to other staff in the Mother & baby unit, Perinatal Teams and parents & carer
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills and an ability to engage with and form therapeutic relationships with your patients and their family

Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a trained Nursery Nurse to join Jasmine Lodge MBU in the role of Lead Nursery Nurse supporting Babies and their Mother's who are experiencing acute perinatal mental health difficulties.
This is a management and mentoring position that supports a team of Nursery Nurses at Jasmine Lodge by delivering gold standard supervision, appraisals and support CPD and training in line with CCQI and accreditation standards.
If you have skills, knowledge and expertise in the parent-infant relationship and you are Psychologically minded then this position will be appealing to you. This role will involve working closely wider MDT and Leadership team.
As the lead Nursery Nurse you will have an active lead role for safeguarding practices and procedures. You will have a responsibility to ensure that all of the babies on the ward are safeguarded against harm, this includes supporting the Nursery Nurse team in taking an active role in safeguarding referrals and ensuring that the team are adequately trained.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate sound clinical leadership skills.
The role will include regular review of operational policies and procedures to ensure that the quality of care that we are providing is safe and effective.
