Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic Therapy Assistant to join the Acute Respiratory, Critical Care & Surgery team. You will work with Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists to rehabilitate patients in an acute setting. Responsibilities include collecting patient information, preparing for treatments, carrying out treatments, and managing equipment. You will also assist with patient discharges within your competencies and departmental protocols. In-house training will be provided to develop your understanding of conditions and communication skills.
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of working within an acute health care setting
Desirable criteria
- Previous work related experience of working with Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist within a healthcare setting
- Experience with support and training other staff
- Experience of working with surgical, medical and elderly patients
- Skills/ Abilities
- Evidence of literacy and numeracy skills
- Ability to communicate information (verbal, non-verbal and written) in an accurate, clear and logical manner
- Education/ Qualifications
- Evidence of recent relevant further education E.g. NVQ level III or completion of 2/4 years of in-service undergraduate Physiotherapy or Occupational therapy degree

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Therapy Assistant looking to join our Acute Respiratory, Critical Care & Surgery team.
Our teams of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Assistants are based within a large acute Trust. This post will provide successful applicants opportunities to work with the team to rehabilitate patients within an acute setting. You will be provided with in-house training to develop your understanding of common conditions and their management, as well as developing skills such as communication. This post requires you to collect information from patients and families, prepare patients for treatment sessions, carry out treatments and order and maintain equipment as directed by a qualified therapist. You will also assist in discharging patients, working within personal competencies and predetermined department protocols.
You need to be driven to provide high-quality care, working closely with other professions to ensure excellent patient outcomes. You should be able to demonstrate problem solving skills while contributing to a solution.
