Role summary
This role is for a motivated Clinical Pharmacist to join a dynamic team delivering high-quality pharmacy services across Critical Care, Theatres, and Pain Services at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. You will work closely with lead pharmacists and a multidisciplinary team, supporting a diverse patient population across multiple sites. The position offers opportunities to develop clinical expertise, leadership, and management skills through active participation in ward rounds, audits, and service development. The Trust hosts three major Intensive Therapy Units (ITUs) across its hospitals, caring for nearly 1,700 patients annually.
Essential criteria
- Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent experience
- Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- FS1 of the Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice (UCL) or other certificate equivalent
Desirable criteria
- FS2 of the Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice (UCL) or equivalent
- Independent Prescriber (Non Medical Prescriber) Pharmacist
- This must include a solid grounding in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice.
- Demonstrate the ability to appropriately recommend, substantiate and communicate therapeutic options for patients within a MDT
- Experience of delivering education and training
- Demonstrable use of clinical audit to improve practice or service improvements
- Previous ITU ward experience
- Previous experience of attending consultant-led ward rounds
- Previous experience of managing specialist services
- Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities
- Ability to communicate complex information and able to adapt communication style appropriately to the content and context
- Good clinical practice knowledge
- Ability to influence medical staff and the multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrates awareness of and commitment to the Clinical Governance agenda
- Word and Excel at an advanced level
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and improve service quality

- Involvement in clinical audits, research, and service evaluation.
- Supporting the design and implementation of new pharmacy services, guidelines, and policies.
- Assisting Lead Pharmacists and Divisions in managing medication expenditure.
- Contributing to the education, training, and supervision of pharmacy, medical, and nursing staff.
Our Trust hosts three major Intensive Therapy Units (ITUs) across St Mary's, Hammersmith, and Charing Cross Hospitals, with approximately 95 beds and care provided to nearly 1,700 patients annually.
