Role summary
This is a part-time permanent position for a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Urology Services. The role involves providing highly specialist nursing care and advice to patients on urology pathways, working as part of a multidisciplinary team. The post holder will support the development of the urology service and promote health education. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and change management skills are essential for this role.
Key responsibilities
- Provide highly specialist nursing care and advice to patients on urology pathways.
- Support the ongoing development of the urology service.
- Promote programs of health education and health promotion.
- Communicate effectively with GPs and the multi-disciplinary team.
- Work in collaboration with the Speciality Lead and General Manager for the Clinical Service Unit.
- Support the team with the development of the service through the West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYATT).
Essential criteria
- Post registration experience at Band 5 (minimum of 1 years)
- Experience of caseload assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care demonstrating knowledge of specific patient needs
- Experience of working in an MDT and across organisational and professional boundaries
- Experience of participating in clinical audit
- Excellent organisational skills using a systematic, thorough and logical approach
- Ability to lead and work as part of a team
- Mentoring and counselling skills
- Change management skills
- Leadership skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Computer literate
- Analytical approach to problem solving and ability to make clinical judgement, interpretation and decisions where there may be a range of options.
- Knowledge of change management processes
- Knowledge and understanding of application of relevant National Guidance e.g. National Service Frameworks, NICE etc.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the NHS national and Trust's targets and priorities
- In depth knowledge and understanding of the needs of patients attending an outpatient setting
- Evidence of current CPD

- Post registration qualification / training in area of clinical specialty
- Teaching and assessing qualification or equivalent
- Diploma/Degree in Nursing or equivalent experience
