Role summary
This role is for an experienced and dedicated Support Medical Secretary to provide secretarial services to the Obstetric and Gynaecological Clinical Teams. The position is part-time, 20 hours per week, with flexibility to work over 3, 4, or 5 days, and potential for one day of home working after training. The successful candidate will work in a busy, supportive multidisciplinary team, requiring strong organisational and interpersonal skills.

- Excellent keyboard skills, IT skills including Microsoft packages
- Excellent organisational skills
- Attention to detail
- Effective and polite atter when dealing with people, both face to face and on the telephone
- Able to work under pressure and to deadlines
- Able to work on your own, using your own initiative, if required
- Confident to handle difficult conversations with patients, relatives and carers
- Experient of dealing with the public, both on the telephone and in person

- Previous NHS experience
- Understanding of medical terminology
- Qualifications & Training
- Educated to GCSE, Grade C or above (or equivalent) in English & Maths

Job summary
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and dedicated individual to provide an effective and efficient secretarial service to members of the Obstetric and Gynaecological Clinical Teams. The post holder will have a range of secretarial experience, ideally in a hospital environment, though other administration experience will be considered. The post is 20 hours per week which can be worked over 3, 4, or 5 days. The option to work at home for 1 day per week will be considered once all training and competencies have been met.
Working in a busy and sometimes demanding role, within a supportive team, you must be a good team player and enjoy working within multidisciplinary teams. The applicant should have good organisational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well under pressure. Applicants must have excellent communication skills. The successful candidates will need to have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
