Role summary
This is an 18-month fixed-term Assistant Psychologist role within North Durham CAMHS, focusing on adolescent mental health services. Essential criteria
- Degree in Psychology.
- Eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
- Some experience of people using services in psychological, mental health and/or social care settings. This may include, for example, personal experience or supporting a family member to access services
- Experience in discussing and responding to issues related to cultural diversity, intersectionality and inclusivity, including working with vulnerable groups (e.g. those for whom English is not their first language)
- An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental ill health or learning disabilities
- An awareness of the application of psychology to health care
- Awareness of the British Psychological Society Code of Conduct
- Awareness of systemic barriers to accessing psychological services/healthcare for minoritised communities
- Competence in managing research database and statistics
Desirable criteria
- Post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis.

Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist (fixed term-18 months) to work in North Durham CAMHS getting more help team. The service provides mental health consultation, assessment, treatment and psychological interventions to young people under the age of 18 years who present with complex mental health needs and risks.
The service is based at North End House in Durham however the team is over two bases including Consett and there will be an expectation to work across both sites.
Open hours include;
Monday 8-6 North End House/Derwentside
Tuesday 8-6 North End House, 8-8 Derwentside
Wednesday 8-6 North End House/Derwentside
Thursday 8-8 North End House, 8-6 Derwentside
Friday 8-5 North End House/Derwentside
Expectation is to work between these opening hours to meet service and client need.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to support the team in the delivery of adolescent mental health services; supporting the development of the service and contributing to the provision of excellent, accessible care.
The successful candidate will have a motivation to supporting young people and an ability to be flexible and adaptive to the changing demands of the service and our young people.
