Role summary
This role is for a dynamic and enthusiastic clinical pharmacist with an interest in oncology/haematology and clinical trials. You will work with a dedicated Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team and develop skills within the Cancer Services Team. The position involves implementing new clinical trials, undertaking feasibility and risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with Trust policies. You will also provide comprehensive clinical pharmacy services to oncology and haematology, acting as an expert practitioner and advising on pharmaceutical aspects of patient care. The role focuses on delivering a cost-effective, patient-oriented clinical pharmacy service, ensuring safe and timely drug therapy.
Essential criteria
- oMasters Degree in Pharmacy 4 years + 1 year pre-registration training (or equivalent) oRegistered as a practising pharmacist with the GPhC oEvidence of up to date Continuing Professional Development (CPD) oCertificate in Clinical Pharmacy (Hospital) or equivalent (experience)
Desirable criteria
- oDiploma in Clinical Pharmacy (Hospital) oMember of a professional organisation (eg RPS)
- oAppropriate hospital pharmacy experience post registration in a variety of clinical areas
- oExperience within Oncology/Haematology oDispensing/checking clinical trial medication oWorking in Aseptic Services oResearch regulatory processes oImplementation of clinical trials. oPeer review/ MHRA GCP inspections. oRisk management oCost analysis
- oGood sound clinical knowledge oUp to date knowledge of Medicines Legislation
- oKnowledge of clinical trials legislation oPractical knowledge of implementing clinical trials oOncology, Haematology, Paediatric and Acute Medicine speciality knowledge
- oIdentify the costs associated with prescribing changes in your given clinical area for the Director of Pharmacy oAble to work in multidisciplinary teams and independently and supervise the work of others. oStrong interpersonal skills oTo communicate effectively in a calm, courteous manner to patients and all levels of colleagues oAble to present clinical and complex information to groups and individuals oTo provide written information in a concise readable manner for patients and colleagues oAble to undertake a level of handling & moving.
- oProven ability to cope in stressful situations and under pressure. oAbility to influence a situation to achieve successful clinical outcomes. oRegistered as a non-medical prescriber

Job summary

This is an opportunity to work in two exciting specialities. The successful candidate will work with a dedicated Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team, whilst also developing clinical knowledge and skills within a highly experienced Cancer Services Team.
Clinical trials are essential for developing treatments of the future and improving patient outcomes. Research has been fundamental in advancing cancer treatment. Traditional chemotherapy used to be the only treatment option, now there are targeted therapies, immunotherapies and even gene therapies. These advances would not be possible without dedicated Clinical Trial Teams and this will be your opportunity to be a key part of this work.
We are an expanding team delivering exciting early phase research and our oncology research team are keen to explore the latest research in cancer vaccines and advanced therapies. There will be opportunities to grow your project management skills and develop new processes.
Applicants must be a pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. You will already have a postgraduate clinical diploma, or already be working towards one and have at least the postgraduate clinical certificate.
