Role summary
This role is for an experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join a Liaison service within a general hospital, operating 24/7. Essential criteria
- Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker
- At present, the Trust is unable to offer Skilled Worker visa sponsorship for this post. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK at the time of application.
- Experience of working in a mental health setting relevant to the post applied
- Commitment to life long learning
- Ability to communicate effectively with people who have difficulty understanding
- Good facilitation skills
- Evidence of effective interpersonal skills (active listening, building empathy)
- Ability to organise self and others to achieve tasks
- Ability to recognise and respond to behaviour that challenges.
- Theoretical knowledge of Mental Health legislation
- Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with other agencies
- Willingness to demonstrate the potential for 'change management' approaches which extend existing practices
- Demonstrate an understanding of, and a commitment to the principles of recovery, choice and personalisation
- Commitment to attend staff training and participate in own development through supervision and performance development
- Able to prioritise workload and manage own capacity according to demand
- Able to demonstrate the ability to communicate both in writing and orally, highly complex matters clearly and concisely, using appropriate methods to a wide spectrum of people including staff and users where empathy, persuasion and reassurance are required

Job summary
We are seeking a Mental Health Practitioner to work in our Liaison service. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to expand their existing knowledge and skill set working in a Mental Health Liaison Team within a general hospital.
The team operates over a 24 hour period 7 days a week so weekend and out of hours working is essential.
You will be an experienced Mental Health Professional who is able to work autonomously with patients with either an acute mental health concern or worsening of a pre-existing condition, you will be able to conduct full, holistic biopsychosocial mental health assessments, undertake robust risk assessments and management plans and develop collaborative recovery focused care plans with patients and their carers. Working alongside our acute physical health colleagues at Queen Alexandra Hospital, you'll be an important figure in advocating for patients and promoting parity of esteem within the acute setting.
The team is made up of a full MDT and includes mental health nurses, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, peer support workers and health care support workers. It is a rich learning environment, with daily MDT meetings, reflective practice, round table discussions
