Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Rotational Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the team at East Kent Hospitals, based at William Harvey Hospital. The role involves working on acute wards, offering assessment, treatment, and discharge planning alongside the multidisciplinary team. Rotations include Acute medical wards, HCOOP, Critical Care, A&E, and Trauma/Orthopaedics. The successful candidate will manage a clinical caseload, facilitate safe discharge planning, and contribute to training and development within the department.
Key responsibilities
- To manage a clinical caseload of patients, and be responsible for the assessment, formulation and evaluation of patient-centred care.
- To be able to facilitate safe discharge planning from hospital to the community.
- To deputise for Team Leader on clinical and managerial issues within the team.
- To be actively involved with training and development within the Department in support of new graduate Occupational therapists, student therapists, therapy apprentices and support workers alongside other senior members of the team.
- Promote the role of OT and demonstrate the values to the members of the multi-disciplinary team.
Essential criteria
- BSc Occupational Therapist or MSc Occupational Therapy
- 18 months post graduate experience in relevant clinical area
- Proven record of providing high quality intervention for high risk patient
- Able to support the implementation of local and national agenda's for health under the guidance of the team lead / service manager

- Ability to organise own work, to cope with change and use initiative
- Awareness of professional issues and recent developments in the NHS and Primary Care including Clinical Governance, NICE and CQC

- Ability to work under pressure
- Flexible and adaptable
- To be aware of and adhere to the Trust's Vision, Mission and Values
- Able to travel around East Kent, and between Trust hospital sites

We have an exciting opportunity for a new Rotational Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the team at East Kent Hospitals. This post will be based at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, and currently offers rotations within the Acute medical wards, HCOOP, Critical Care, A&E and Trauma/Orthopaedics, with further experience in additional speciality areas becoming available in the future.
