Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager to join the Pathology Business Unit (PBU) at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The role involves providing financial support and business partnering to the PBU team, working across both Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and preparing monthly finance reports, forecasts, and supporting annual financial planning processes. They will act as the primary contact for all finance queries within the PBU and provide expert guidance to team leaders.
Essential criteria
- Set and negotiate priorities for themselves and others, and subsequently programme workload, to achieve results and meet deadlines
- Understand and be able to apply the concepts and techniques for: budgeting and financial planning; costing and pricing; variance analysis and financial reporting; the purpose of accounting accruals and provisions
- Masters level qualification or equivalent experience
- Evidence of regular professional and personal development training
- Substantial progress towards a CCAB accountancy qualification

- Experience and Knowledge
- Significant experience of working in an accounting department of which considerable experience has been in a specialist financial management role
- Forecasting & financial projections

This role will work across both Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to support the delivery a new and exciting partnership to transform Pathology services across south east London.
This partnership will deliver and transform Pathology service across south east London, serving a population of around 1.7million and delivering a service for both primary and secondary care providers.
This programme will deliver significant transformation of pathology services for south east London, through implementation of digital pathology and creation of a new clinically led target operating model with a new hub and essential services laboratories working on each site, working through unified and standardised pathways. This will provide improvements in service performance, outcomes, efficiency and position SEL at the forefront of R&D and Innovation, while delivering material savings for Trusts and a risk and gain share royalty, dependent on delivery of critical milestones.
