Role summary
This role is for a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join Edgcumbe Ward, an 11-bedded specialist dementia assessment unit in Plymouth. The nurse will provide 24-hour care, assess needs, and implement care plans for patients with dementia. The position involves working a range of shifts and offers opportunities for professional development in dementia care. Both experienced and recently qualified nurses are encouraged to apply.
Key responsibilities
- Utilise professional skills to assess, plan, implement and deliver care to patients in an acute phase of illness.
- Organise the provision of care and act as named professional within a care team for a specified group of patients.
- Function as a member of a multidisciplinary team, taking responsibility for implementing team decisions.
- Ensure planned nursing care is implemented and evaluated.
- Be responsible for implementing drug administration procedures according to policy.
- Maintain standards of care to the highest level within available resources.
Essential criteria
- RMN/ RGN
- Current registration with NMC
- Degee/Diploma qualified
- Mental Health Act /Mental Capacity Act / Deprivation of Liberty
- Dementia and cognitive impairment
- Assessment of risk
- Policies and procedures

- Experience in a variety of settings (including during a pre-registration programme)

Plymouth. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Mental
Health or General Nurse to join our team.
We are looking for
applicants who have an interest in the care of people with Dementia and want to develop their clinical and assessment skills in both
mental and physical health.
The post holder
will work a range of shifts including long days, early, late and night shifts over a 7 day period.
We welcome
applications from people who may already have experience or who may be recently
qualified.
