Locum Appointment for Training in Ophthalmology

NHS Lanarkshire

NHS Lanarkshire invites applications for the post of Locum Appointment for Training (LAT) in Ophthalmology, based at University Hospital Hairmyres from November 2026 until August 2027.

Duties will include participation in specialist and general ophthalmic out-patient clinics, emergency clinics, theatre sessions with the possibility of laser clinics, minor ops, and intravitreal injections dependent on previous experience. The job also has an on-call commitment which is currently a one in seven.

You will work alongside four other trainees on the West of Scotland training rotation and two SAS doctors on the on call rota. In addition to clinical work, the successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the Clinical Governance programme within the department and will be encouraged to participate in audit and research.
