Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join the Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) team at St James’s University Hospital. The role involves supporting the Senior Sister, leading the team, and promoting a positive, safe working environment. You will contribute to patient safety and improvement work on SAU, caring for acute patients requiring urgent surgical, gastroenterology, and urology assessments. Job summary
You will have excellent communication and leadership skills, and the ability to demonstrate recent change management and implementation. You will be supporting the Band 7 Senior Sister to lead the team working on SAU and help to promote a positive, safe working environment that provides the best care possible for the patients. You will help to lead on aspects of patient safety, supporting staff and lots of improvement work that is currently underway on SAU. Previous experience at Band 6 would be an advantage, but it is also an opportunity for a Band 5 to further develop their career and leadership skills. You must demonstrate effective organisational skills and an ability to remain calm under pressure, with a positive attitude, acting as a positive role model.
Effective service delivery requires staff to be flexible and be able to work full rotating shift patterns. Candidates should have current NMC registration and extensive experience at Band 5. Management experience is desirable but not essential.
