Role summary
This is a dynamic and challenging role for an Occupational Therapy Manager to join the In Patient Team at The Cedars & The Junipers in Exeter. The successful candidate will manage the OT Department at a busy Inpatient Unit, working without direct supervision to prioritize tasks and manage their own workload. They will provide high-quality care to patients and support colleagues, with training and development provided to help them thrive in the role.
Essential criteria
- Highly developed knowledge of theory and practice of Occupational Therapy with people with a learning disability.
- Ability to use a range of communication skills to communicate effectively with clients and carers who may be distressed or have limited communication skills.
- Ability to teach basic occupational therapy principles to wider multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable criteria
- To be able to produce complex written information in a variety of formats for varied audiences.
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Registered to practice by HCPC.
- MSc in Advanced Occupational Therapy.
- Working towards advanced practitioner status/MSc in sensory integration.
- Significant specialised experience working with people with severe/complex mental health needs.
- Experience in the application of Occupational Therapy models to service users with complex needs.
- Ability to manage a complex caseload and competing priorities.
- Experience of service development and leading change.
