Role summary
This Senior Occupational Therapist role involves providing a high standard of Occupational Therapy service as an autonomous practitioner within the Neuro Rehabilitation Centre at Goole and District Hospital. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing interventions to aid rehabilitation, maintenance, and long-term management for patients with neurological injuries/illnesses. Responsibilities include managing your own caseload, supervising junior staff and students, and contributing to service development through audit and research. The position focuses on supporting patients to achieve their maximum potential and safe discharge.
Key responsibilities
- Perform advanced Occupational Therapy assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions.
- Use advanced clinical reasoning skills to provide a diagnosis and to develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.
- Responsible for managing own caseload and a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision.
- Supervise, educate and assess students, assistants and Band 5 staff and provide specialised advice to other health care professionals in the specific clinical area.
- Undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further develop own clinical practice and development of the service area.
Essential criteria
- Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- Relevant accredited courses or experience to equivalent level
- HCPC registration (or to be completed within next 6 months)
- Variety of post-graduate experience in core clinical areas (min 1 year)
- Evidence of a range of CPD activities associated with clinical area of post
- Experience of student/ staff supervision
- Evidence of involvement in Quality Improvement activities e.g audit or service development activities

- Evidence of Masters level study
- Specific evidence of experience in the role related area.
- Evidence of working to support staff /students in relation to HR processes e.g absence management/ performance management

Job summary
The purpose of this post is to provide a high standard of Occupational Therapy service undertaking all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
You will work as part of a defined team of therapy staff at the Neuro Rehabilitation centre at Goole and district hospital.
You will be based within the Neurorehabilitation Centre (NRC) at Goole and District Hospitals (GDH). Here you will provide Occupational Therapy input for patients admitted for sub-acute rehabilitation following neurological injury/illness and for those requiring complex rehabilitation. In this role there is an opportunity to support individuals to reach their maximum potential and to support them with a safe discharge as part of a wider MDT.
As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will provide a range of interventions to aid rehabilitation, maintenance and long term management, using your occupational therapy core skills, looking at activities of daily living, role, and routine, provide active rehabilitation, assistive devices and assessment for referral on for major adaptations where there is identified need.
