Role summary
This role is for a Data Manager / Research Assistant Psychologist to support the Wellcome-funded SloMo2 research study, which investigates a digital cognitive-behavioural therapy for psychosis. The postholder will manage and clean study databases, produce reports, and provide technical support for the SloMo therapy service. They will also assist with research delivery, data collection, and participant recruitment across three NHS Trusts. The role involves working with a friendly study team and liaising with clinicians and lived experience researchers.
Essential criteria
- First-class or Upper-second-class Bachelors degree with Honours in Psychology that is accredited by the British Psychological Society and confers the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the British Psychological Society OR an equivalent qualification relevant to clinical data science
Desirable criteria
- Master's degree in relevant subject
- Experience of managing complex databases in REDCap, Excel, SPSS, or similar software, including maintaining high standards in data input, cleaning, summarising and reporting
- Experience conducting psychological research projects or audits
- Experience of working with people with complex mental health needs in a research or clinical setting
- Experience administering psychometric measures and/or facilitating interviews with participants
- Experience in supporting Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) activities
- Ability to work independently with excellent organisational skills, including ability to manage competing demands
- Very strong attention to detail, including ability to maintain concentration when cleaning/checking large datasets
- Excellent IT skills including Word, Excel, and data management systems, with the ability to support software installation and onboarding, and troubleshoot technical problems, for people experiencing digital exclusion
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to work with and engage a range of stakeholders such as people with lived experience of psychosis, clinicians, and researchers
- Understanding of the needs of people experiencing severe mental health problems, including safeguarding

Job summary
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Data Manager / Research Assistant Psychologist for a Wellcome funded research study, SloMo2. SloMo is a digitally supported, cognitive-behavioural therapy for psychosis that improves fear of harm from others (or paranoia). The SloMo2 study is investigating if SloMo therapy can be delivered by real world clinicians, by conducting a clinical investigation of its implementation, effectiveness, and cost-effectiveness in three NHS Trusts.
The postholder will join a friendly study team that is led [contact details removed]. The post will be supervised by [contact details removed]Ryan, Study Coordinator and [contact details removed], Therapy Lead. The postholder will work alongside a lived experience researcher, and liaise with routine care psychological practitioners to facilitate data collection, promote uptake, and for provision of technical support.
