Role summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to work on a community inpatient ward in Whitby. The ward has 16 beds and cares for rehabilitation, end-of-life, palliative, and step-up/step-down patients. The role involves working a 24-hour shift system, providing and coordinating patient care, educating patients, and offering advice and emotional support. You will utilise physical assessment skills and clinical nursing skills to complete patient assessments and support admissions and discharges with a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain up to date clinical knowledge/skills in this clinical field as part of continual professional development.
  • Demonstrate a range of clinical interventions, procedures and practices which are evidence based and relevant to the clinical area.
  • Contribute to assessment and management plan for patients with high risk clinical needs to ensure safety of patients & carers.
  • Coordinate and act as nurse in charge of the ward.

Essential criteria

  • Part 111 of NMC registration
  • Degree or diploma in adult nursing
  • Appropriate knowledge/experience of working in inpatient Nursing environments
  • Experience of working in an inpatient setting
  • Able to demonstrate effective interpersonal/communication skills
  • Evidence of good time management skills
  • Work within the culture of improving working lives and working time directive

Desirable criteria

  • Demonstrate experience of mentoring pre reg students
  • Successful completion of preceptorship Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the clinical area at specialist level of care
  • Evidence of specialist practice skills and able to demonstrate the impact of this on practice change/development
  • Evidence of promoting/supporting active user/carer involvement/participation
  • Awareness of leadership/management skills and qualities
  • Ability to manage daily operations and maintain a safe working environment

Job summary

The staff Nurse role includes working a 24 hours shift system 365 days of the year.
