Role summary
This is a 0.6 WTE Band 6 fixed-term Speech and Language Therapist role within the Camden Early Years Service, lasting 31 months. The post involves working across various early years settings to enhance practitioner confidence and capability through training, coaching, and consultation. You will contribute to the Camden Kids Talk programme, delivering evidence-based approaches for early communication and bilingual language development. This role is ideal for an experienced therapist with strong partnership, influencing, and training skills.
Key responsibilities
- Implement interventions across various settings including home, nursery, and family hubs.
- Upskill the Early Years workforce in identifying needs and supporting communication development in under-fives.
- Provide specialist clinical expertise in assessing, treating, and managing language and communication problems in young children.
- Manage and prioritise a specialist caseload under supervision, advising on service delivery issues.
- Contribute to multi-agency data reporting and clinical governance systems.
- Carry out administrative duties including activity data collection and equipment maintenance.
Essential criteria
- BSc. in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent (including Dip. CST)
- Health and Care Professions Council Registration to Practice
- Registered Member of RCSLT
- Of a specialist range of direct and indirect interventions relevant to communication demonstrating the evidence base for these approaches (where appropriate)
- Of a specialist range of assessment tools and procedures to evaluate communication, speech & language skills relevant to communication and specific speech and language disorders
Desirable criteria
- Successful completion of specialist post graduate study relevant to communication and specific speech and language disorders e.g. DLD, SLCN, SEMH, ELKLAN etc.
- Skills in delivering presentations and training, including basic adaptations to presentation/ training style for a range of audiences
- Experience of delivering training to a range of audiences e.g., teachers, teaching assistants and specialist education and health professionals
- Experience of working at a specialist level with pre-school children
