Role summary
Join the Adult Respiratory Care and Rehabilitation (ARCARE) team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist Respiratory or Specialist Physiotherapist. This role involves working across multiple sites, supporting respiratory patients through various pathways including in-patient and domiciliary reviews, diagnostic clinics, virtual ward, and pulmonary rehabilitation. It's an excellent development opportunity for a Band 6 or an experienced Band 5 looking to progress. The team is multi-disciplinary, integrated, and award-winning.
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with respiratory teams across Royal London Hospital, St Bartholomew's Hospital and Mile End Hospital.
- Support an integrated approach in caring for respiratory patients across various pathways.
- Conduct in-patient and domiciliary (home visits) reviews.
- Perform diagnostic (spirometry) and follow-up asthma/COPD clinics.
- Contribute to the respiratory virtual ward for admission avoidance and supported discharge.
- Conduct home oxygen assessment and review, provide primary care education, and manage respiratory cases.
Essential criteria
- HPC/NMC Registered Nurse
- Post registration qualification appropriate to the specialty or equivalent
- Significant clinical experience specific to respiratory care for at least 3 years
- Evidence of continuing professional and personal development
- Experience of dealing with challenging/complex patients
- Demonstrates good understanding of various National Guidelines for COPD, Oxygen, and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Asthma, NIV
- Ability to work within MDT
- Evidence of teaching skills
- Time management, IT, presentation and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills with patients and MDT including verbal and written, individual or group
Desirable criteria
- Physical examination qualification or working towards.
- Non-medical prescribing qualification or working towards
- Experience of carrying out research and audit
