Role summary
This is a fixed-term opportunity for a competent Clinical Support Worker to join the Inpatient Gynaecology Unit at Arrowe Park Hospital for 9 months to cover maternity leave. The role involves assisting registered nurses in patient care, maintaining records, and undertaking delegated clinical duties. The post holder will rotate between various gynaecology units and must possess excellent communication skills to handle sensitive situations.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the registered nurses in the delivery of high quality patient care and the general wellbeing and comfort of patients.
- Maintain accurate records of the patient's care, documenting as appropriate in line with Trust, professional and departmental guidelines.
- Observe patients and reports any changes to a registered professional for review.
- Undertake a range of delegated clinical duties relevant to the speciality and your current training and competence profile.
- Accurately and promptly carry out the instructions of the registered professional who is professionally accountable for the delivery of care.
- Appropriately support patients with routine personal care needs.
Essential criteria
- Level 3 qualifications (e.g. A- Levels, NVQ3) in Health and Social Care OR A good standard of education to A- Level standard and the agreement to undertake a relevant Level 3 qualification on appointment
- Experience working in a clinical environment an undertaking a range of relevant clinical skills with proven competencies
- Evidence of competence in relevant specialist skills or tasks
- Knowledge and understanding of the responsibilities of a Clinical Support Worker
- Previous experience and training of manual handling patients using appropriate equipment
- Can demonstrate an understanding of the importance of promoting patient independence
- Ability to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- A positive attitude and ability to act on feedback
- Polite, friendly, approachable and self-motivated
Desirable criteria
- Experience working in the NHS
- Able to provide support and reassurance to patients.

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a competent individual to join the team on the Inpatient Gynaecology Unit at Arrowe Park Hospital. The unit is responsible for the safe admission and assessment of patients, and ensuring excellent care is provided at all times. This is a fixed term post to cover maternity leave for 9 months.
It is essential that applicants have a Level 3 qualification (A Level or NVQ 3) in Health and Social Care ora good standard of education to A Level standard andthe agreement to undertake the relevant Level 3 qualification on appointment (apprenticeship). Please clearly state your qualifications within your application. Failure to do so may result in your application not being shortlisted.
The role includes rotation between the 8 bedded inpatient Gynaecology Ward, Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit, Gynaecology Assessment Unit and the Gynaecology Daycase Unit.
The shift patterns include rotation between long days and night duties.
The post holder will have excellent communication skills and have an ability to deal with potentially difficult and emotive situations relating to pregnancy loss and oncology in a sensitive manner.
