Role summary
This role involves undertaking psychological assessments and providing low-intensity psychological interventions to children and young people up to 17 years old with mild to moderate depression and anxiety. You will work with diverse cultural backgrounds, offering individual and group support. The position also includes supporting schools and colleges with whole-organisation mental health approaches and providing education, training, and consultation to professionals and agencies.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake psychological assessments of individuals up to the age of 17 referred to the service.
- Offer and provide low intensity psychological interventions to children, young people and their families experiencing mild to moderate depression and anxiety.
- Work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using a range of suitable and evidence-based interventions.
- Support schools and/or colleges with whole-organisation approaches to mental health and wellbeing.
- Play a role in the education, training, consultation and support in mental health and psychological issues for Schools and other primary care professionals and relevant agencies.
Essential criteria
- CWP training course qualification and registration with BABCP or BPS professional body
- Evidence of working with Children and Young People who have experienced mental health problems
- Excellent written communication skills
- Able to write clear reports and letters
- Ability to form positive therapeutic relationships with service users and carers whilst maintaining appropriate boundaries
- Experience of working within set criteria and referring to other services as appropriate
- Experience of working within Primary Care services
- Full UK Driving License holder and willing to use their own vehicle for business use.

Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT) Children and Young People Services, Mental Health in School's Team are recruiting Education Mental Health Practitioners / Children's Wellbeing Practitioners. The service has multiple teams across Coventry and Warwickshire and are currently undergoing expansion to service offers.
We are seeking Education Mental Health Practitioners / Children's Wellbeing Practitioners in various locations across Coventry and Warwickshire. Applicants must be registered with a governing body (BABCP/BPS) be able to drive and have access to their own vehicle for business use.
We require individuals who are passionate about working with children and young people, families, education staff, and the wider school and college community to provide evidence based and innovative support for emotional wellbeing and mental health.
