Role summary
This role is for a Physician Assistant to join the adult ADHD pathway within a specialist mental health team. The post holder will provide expert assistance under the direction of a supervising Consultant, conducting patient assessments, examinations, and developing management plans. It involves outpatient and community work, requiring excellent clinical and communication skills. The role is fixed-term for 12 months, offering supervision, appraisal, and professional development opportunities.
Key responsibilities
- Provide expert assistance to the Adult ADHD pathway in the provision of a high quality service to patients.
- Undertake patient consultations, assessments and examinations, and recommend appropriate diagnostic tests and treatment.
- Request and interpret results of laboratory investigations, and consult/refer to other health professionals as appropriate.
- Develop own leadership skills within the clinical environment and contribute to service development.
- Maintain accurate and appropriate documentation for legal and administrative purposes.
Essential criteria
- MSc/PG Dip Physicians Associate / Assistant Studies from an accredited UK training programme;
- Bachelor Degree prior to taking Physicians Associate / Assistant Programme.
- Passed the UK RCP National Certification Examination for Physician Associate / Assistant (PANCE)
- Registered on the UK Physician Associate / Assistant Managed Voluntary Register (PAMVR) to be able to work.
- Membership of the Faculty of Physician Associate / Assistants.
- Ability to work cohesively within the multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload (time management).
- IT Skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively and use initiative.
- Ability to adhere to regulations as well as working flexibly to meet the needs of the services and patients.
- Ability to exercise sound judgements when faced with conflicting pressures.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Understanding of Information Governance.
- Understanding of equality and diversity issues and how this affects patients, visitors and staff.
- Commitment to CME and professional development.
