Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated nurse to join the Clinical Apheresis Unit as Apheresis Lead Nurse. The role involves providing clinical leadership for the day-to-day delivery and development of a comprehensive nurse-led apheresis service. You will coordinate the apheresis pathway, provide expert nursing care for patients undergoing stem cell and lymphocyte collection, and contribute to quality improvement and education. Experience in apheresis, haematology/oncology, and transplant/cellular therapy is essential, along with strong clinical judgement and leadership skills.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
- Evidence of relevant specialist education/training in haematology, apheresis, cellular therapy
Desirable criteria
- Oncology/Haematology or transplant related courses
- Non-medical prescribing
- Working towards a masters in a health-related subject
- Substantial post-registration experience in Adult Haematology and/or cellular therapy
- Extensive experience of Clinical Apheresis and Cellular therapy collections
- Experience of coordinating complex patient pathways and working across multidisciplinary teams
- Experience of clinical leadership, staff support, training and competency assessment
- Experience of supporting research activity within specialist practice
- Experience of audit, quality improvement, policy/protocol development and regulatory/accreditation requirements
- Trained in Apheresis
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- IT skills

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated nurse to join the Clinical Apheresis Unit (CAU) within the Haematology and Transplant Day Unit as Apheresis Lead Nurse. The post will provide clinical leadership for the day-to-day delivery and development of a comprehensive nurse-led apheresis service for patients and donors. The successful candidate will coordinate the apheresis pathway, working closely with the Apheresis Director, Cellular Therapy Programme, transplant and donor coordinators and the wider multidisciplinary team. You will provide expert nursing care for patients undergoing stem cell and lymphocyte collection, support safe and effective service delivery, and contribute to quality improvement, education, competency development and service expansion. Experience in apheresis is essential and with knowledge in haematology/oncology, & transplant, cellular therapy. You will need strong clinical judgement, leadership, organisation and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a highly specialist service.
