Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 Senior Diabetes Specialist Podiatrist to work within a community podiatry team. The post holder will manage patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes with moderate, high risk, and active foot problems, aiming to improve outcomes through clinic-based care, home visits, and education programs. The role involves working within a multidisciplinary community diabetes service and supporting other podiatry teams, with opportunities for clinical supervision of students.
Essential criteria
- BSc Podiatry or equivalent
- MSc (working towards) or equivalent experience
- Evidence of Post graduate Continual Professional Development
- Evidence of working at nationally accepted competency level for Band 7 Diabetes Specialist
Desirable criteria
- Holder of Independent prescriber certification
- Substantial post graduate experience preferably covering both acute and community clinical work. To include significant experience providing specialist care for the patients with diabetes
- Developing specialised programmes of care
- Working in multi-disciplinary setting
- Undertaking clinical audit
- Comprehensive evidence of relevant lifelong learning and post graduate training
- Undertaking research in a healthcare setting
- Skills and Knowledge
- Complex diabetic wound assessment and management
- Vascular assessment and associated podiatric management
- Experience in the provision of health education
- Ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite of programs
- This position will require the post holder to be independently mobile and own a vehicle for personal transport as it will require regular travel across East Sussex and the Brighton and Hove area

Job summary
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 Senior Diabetes Specialist Podiatrists to work within our Podiatry team.
The Senior Diabetes Specialist Podiatrist will work in partnership with patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes with moderate, high risk and active foot problems in a community setting, aiming to improve outcomes for patients. This includes the development of clinic-based care, home visits, along with healthcare professional and patient education programmes for diabetes management.
Diabetes Care for You is a multidisciplinary community diabetes service covering Brighton, Hove, High Weald and the Havens in East Sussex. The service comprises of consultants, nurses, dietitians, podiatrists, psychologists and support staff, that all contribute to the development of this innovative service.
The podiatrists also support with the Multi-Disciplinary Foot Team down at the Royal Sussex County Hospital and at times may be required to support other podiatry teams located in Brighton & Hove within the same directorate.
There will also be opportunities to work as part of our new innovative partnership with The University of Brighton at Falmer and the provision of clinical supervision for students studying for BSc and Master's degrees in P
