Role summary
This is a part-time Band 7 Occupational Therapist post within the Children and Young People's Occupational Therapy Service, specifically in the Social Care team. The role involves supporting children and young people with occupational performance needs, focusing on equipment provision and home adaptations. The postholder will conduct assessments, make recommendations, and contribute to developing clinical pathways and leadership skills. It's a community-based role working with children, young people, and their families.
Essential criteria
- Highly specialist knowledge acquired through degree or equivalent qualifications, in sensory integration theory and assessment
- Continued Professional Development evidenced by attendance at specialist postgraduate courses to maintain and develop own specialist knowledge and expertise.
- Recognised OT Qualification leading to registration with HCPC
- HCPC Licence to Practice
- Registered member of British Association of OT
- Supervision/Clinical Educators Course attendance
- Experience and Knowledge

- Demonstrate your knowledge of current safeguarding procedures
- Evidence of involvement in service policy development in area of specialism

- How do you ensure you are making appropriate clinical decisions, and include experiences of analysing and interpret complex data
- Demonstrate effective problem solving skills
- Describe your computer literacy, including use of Excel spreadsheets, databases and PowerPoint
- Describe your experience of supervising, supporting or mentoring others, e.g. junior staff; students; assistants and those of other professional backgrounds where needed
- Describe your communication skills and how you use these in your every day work
- Eligible to live and work in the UK
- Hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010)
- Experience and evidence of engagement around equality, diversity and inclusion issues in relation to policy, service development and service delivery in respect of both services to users and the management of staff

Job summary
Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust's (HCT) Children and Young People's Occupational Therapy Service has dedicated specialist posts to support CYP with occupational performance needs which impact on their access to activities of daily life including equipment and in adaptations to the their home.

We are looking for an OT who has experience with social care for equipment and housing adaptations. Do you wish to broaden your skills by working with children and young people? If you enjoy being community based and working with CYP and their families, this post could be just right for you. The postholder will be involved in the assessment and recommendations for equipment and home adaptations for children and families, and with developing clinical pathways and leadership skills.
