Role summary
This role is for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to work with Older Adults in Slough and Bracknell OPMH Community Services. The post involves supporting patients with communication difficulties and dysphagia, including those with dementia and functional mental health issues. You will provide specialist clinical advice, assessment, and develop treatment plans, working closely with multidisciplinary teams. The trust offers a supportive environment with opportunities for professional development and flexible working.
Essential criteria
- Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent Licence to Practice
- Registration with Health Care Professionals Council.
Desirable criteria
- Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapist
- Continuous Professional Development
- Evidence of successful post-graduate study through CPD portfolio
- MSc or at least 3 years experience in co-working with expert practitioners and undertaking specialist formal training.
- Previous Experience
- At least 5 years post-graduate experience
- Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Excellent presentation skills, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of national policies and procedures both NHS, Government and local Authority relevant to the client group.
- Knowledge of relevant procedures and other relevant legal frameworks including Safeguarding Adults, Mental Capacity Act
- Additional Requirements
- Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Ability to travel to multiple sites
- Education, qualifications or training

Job summary
We are looking to recruit an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to work with Older Adults presenting with communication difficulties and dysphagia within the Slough and Bracknell OPMH Community Services. The teams support patients with both dementia and functional mental health difficulties.
You will need to provide specialist clinical advice and support regarding communication, differential diagnosis assessment & dysphagia, as well as develop related treatment plans for our patients. SLT intervention will be in conjunction with other Care pathways and treatment provided.
We are friendly, dynamic and supportive teams, and you will have the opportunity to work across two very diverse localities. Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust offers Mobile working and you will have access to agile working opportunities. You will be actively encouraged to develop in your role within the team, and have regular access to supervision, training and peer support in your role.

- Providing assessment, advice and support to patients with communication difficulties that are currently open to the service (one to one and in groups). Developing, monitoring and reviewing related treatment plans.
