Role summary

This role supports the Principal Financial Accountant with all financial accounting aspects of the Trust's capital programme, fixed assets, and leases. The post holder will also maintain the fixed asset register, lead on IFRS 16 lease accounting, and provide advice on lease interpretations.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the Principal Financial Accountant with financial accounting for capital programmes, fixed assets, and leases.
  • Ensure monthly financial positions and annual statutory accounts comply with accounting standards and DoH guidance.
  • Provide accurate and timely monthly monitoring information for capital expenditure.
  • Maintain the Trust's fixed asset register.
  • Lead on IFRS 16 lease accounting, maintaining the lease register and ensuring financial record accuracy.
  • Advise colleagues on IFRS16 interpretation for contracts that may be defined as leases.

Essential criteria

  • Financial Qualification with an Accountancy Body - minimum Part Qualified or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of compliance with institute CPD requirements.
  • Honours degree or equivalent level of qualification and/or equivalent experience.
  • Significant Capital and Lease Accounting experience, working in an NHS or similar organisation to understand complexities of processes.
  • Ability to work autonomously and knowledge of accounting standards, manuals, procedures, systems, policies, financial governance matters, relevant legislation and audit requirements.
  • Extensive understanding of the financial (and other) requirements/duties of NHS providers.

Job summary
