Role summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Specialist Nursing Team at East Lancashire Hospitals Women and Newborn Centre. The role involves independently performing diagnostic and therapeutic hysteroscopy procedures, leading a Nurse-led hysteroscopy service as part of a multidisciplinary team, and providing comprehensive consultation and advice for patients. The post holder will ensure services meet Faster Diagnostic Services (FDS) targets and national guidance, demonstrating advanced clinical judgment and decision-making.

Essential criteria

  • Computer literate.
  • Evidence of high standard of Hysteroscopy abilities for others to follow
  • Demonstrate effective leadership skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Experience of working in a management or supervisory role in the NHS

Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of previous delivery of Specialist Nurse Diagnostic and pathway treatment planning within the specialties
  • Knowledge and Skills
  • Use of the Datix reporting system.
  • Use of IT packages such as Microsoft Office, the Internet and the Intranet.
  • Thorough understanding of the principles of clinical governance, risk management, complaints management and audit systems in relation to Hysteroscopy.
  • NMC registration
  • BSGE qualification in Hysteroscopy

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Specialist Nursing Team at East Lancashire Hospitals Women and Newborn Centre.

The post holder will work independently as a Clinical Nurse Specialist performing diagnostic and therapeutic hysteroscopy procedures in line with the Faster Diagnostic Services (FDS) as outlined by NHS England to meet the 28-day target from referral to diagnosis.

The post holder will demonstrate advanced levels of clinical judgment, discretion and clinical decision making in accordance with the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopists (BSGE).

The post holder will be an experienced practitioner, with expert knowledge and skills in the field of hysteroscopy services, undertaking holistic assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care in accordance with National Guidance; and able to provide comprehensive consultation and advice for patients.
