Role summary

This is an opportunity for a motivated and organised individual to join the Procurement and Supply Chain Department as a Supply Chain Controller. The role involves using IT systems, including desktop and handheld devices, for tasks such as receiving goods, stock rotation, replenishment, cycle counting, and internal distribution. The successful candidate will also support the migration to a full Inventory Management System. Accuracy, efficiency, and good communication skills are essential for managing competing deadlines.

Key responsibilities

  • Order and stow stock at ward/department level using bar code systems.
  • Top-up wards and clinical areas according to a pre-determined schedule.
  • Timely receipt of orders placed for ward top-up on the Trust Inventory system.
  • Replenish, receipt, issue, and stow stock using the Genesis system.
  • Rotate stock by expiry date, ensuring stock with the shortest life is used first.
  • Process requisitions on the computer system and authorise orders for wards and departments.

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrable experience of stores management or CIPS qualifications or courses attended.
  • Good standard of General Education.
  • Good IT and keyboard skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • A working knowledge of basic office and business practices.
  • Knowledge of basic Supply Chain management.
  • Previous demonstrable experience of customer service.

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge and understanding of the NHS.
  • An understanding of Trusts Standing Financial Instructions and Procurement procedures.
  • Ability to travel between sites.
  • To be willing to work towards CILT qualification.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a stock control environment.
  • Knowledge of goods & services used within NHS.
  • Demonstrable experience of using Microsoft office software such as Excel and Word.
