Role summary
This role involves leading and supporting Mammography and X-Ray services at University Hospital of North Durham, ensuring high-quality diagnostic imaging and patient care. It requires participation in out-of-hours working and assisting the Lead Radiographer with daily operations. Key responsibilities
- Deliver high precision imaging, safely positioning patients and equipment.
- Manage and prioritise your workload to ensuring efficient use of resources within your scope of practice.
- Provide day to day leadership, including managing workflow (flow duties) within the X ray department to keep services running smoothly.
- Work to the highest standards of radiation protection, adhering to IRMER and always promoting safe practice.
- Maintain awareness of current trends & developments in all aspects of your practice & actively participate in CPD.
- Participate in the out of hours service provision.
Essential criteria
- HCPC Registration
- Able to travel across Trust sites to meet the requirements of the post
- High level of competence and knowledge in Mammography and X-Ray imaging.
- Good knowledge of Clinical Governance
- Good knowledge of QA programmes
- BSc/MSc/DCR Radiography
- Post Graduate Certificate in Mammography
- Commitment to CPD
- Ability to act as a lead, negotiate and positively influence team relations
- Competently and Safely use highly complex diagnostic mammography and radiography equipment
- Enthusiasm and commitment to areas of work and the department
- Assertive and able to advocate on behalf of patients
- Confident and capable to manage challenging situations
- Empathetic with a continuous patient focussed approach
- Approachable and able to build relationships with a variety of colleagues

Job summary
County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust are one of

Radiology is a busy department providing Xray, CT, MRI,
Fluoroscopy and Ultrasound services for the Emergency department, In-patients
and Out-patients. We provide 24/7 diagnostic services to the hospital using
high-quality up-to-date equipment.
This role includes covering both
the Mammography and X-ray services at University Hospital of North Durham,
delivering care to our local population, with participation in out of hours
working. You will work closely with the Lead Radiographer to help maintain,
support and aim to continually improve our department and services.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will show excellent imaging and leadership
qualities required to support and work collaboratively within the Mammography
and X-Ray service.
The post holder will be an integral part of the Radiology
team, working closely with colleagues to ensure smooth delivery of care for the
patients, whilst maintaining Radiographic standards and promoting good practice
to Radiographers & Radiology students.
