Role summary
This role is for an experienced Motor Vehicle Technician to join the team at the Workington Facility. The technician will be responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining all Trust vehicles, including specialist ambulance equipment, to DVSA standards. The position involves working in a modern workshop environment with opportunities for training and career progression. The role operates on a rotating shift pattern, covering 365 days a year.
Essential criteria
- City and Guilds certificate in motor vehicle technology or NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualifications and experience
- Good standard of education. Minimum 3 GCSE or equivalent
- Full Driving License
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development
- Driving License C1 + D1 (Work towards)
- MOT Tester
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with situations in a sensitive manner
- Able to communicate across wide demographic boundaries in an appropriate manner
- Strong management, motivational and leadership skills
- Respects and applies patient confidentiality at all times
- Able to operate all equipment safely and in accordance with Trust policy, procedures and protocols
- Good communication and relationship skills
- Ability to work to strict deadlines
- Knowledge of protection and understanding of confidentiality requirements
- Customer service skills
- Specialist knowledge of vehicle systems
- Working knowledge of vehicle Electrical components
- PC literate

An exciting opportunity has become available for 3 x experienced vehicle technicians to join the team at our Workington Facility (Cumbria)
The role of NWAS Vehicle Technician is to ensure all Trust vehicles (Petrol / Diesel / Hybrid and EV) are serviced, repaired and maintained to the Trust and DVSA's exacting standards. The post incorporates the skilled service and repair of specialist ambulance equipment.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant must hold a recognised apprenticeship e.g. Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent experience along with NVQ or C&G level 3 qualifications. A full UK driving license is essential for this post along with having full category C1 entitlement.
Working in a modern workshop environment, our vehicle technicians benefit from significant levels of training, job satisfaction, and an opportunity to progress their current skill sets and CPD whilst being supported by a dedicated management team structure, ensuring our teams have everything available to maximize vehicle throughput, reduced workshop delays and minimal supply chain frustrations.
With over 1185 vehicles across the entire NWAS Fleet, each day offers variety.
Operational requirements for the workshops cover 365 days per year via a rotating shift pattern which attracts an additional salary uplift of approximately 12.5% on top of the basic salary
