Role summary
This Assistant Psychologist role is based in the Older People's Mental Health Service at Julian Hospital, Norwich. The post involves working with older people and individuals with dementia, including delivering Cognitive Stimulation Therapy. You will assist in providing direct clinical services, supporting psychologically informed assessments, and participating in audits and service development. Regular supervision will be provided by a Clinical Psychologist.
Essential criteria
- A BPS accredited degree in Psychology.

- An understanding of psychology applied to health care.
- Knowledge of mental health
- Knowledge of quantitative research
- An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health problems or other disabilities.
- An ability to apply existing knowledge to a mental health context.
- Skills using microcomputers for databases or date analysis, especially SPSS for Windows.
- Presentation skills
- Ability to communicate sensitive information to patients and colleagues.

Job summary
We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist to work in the Older People's Mental Health Service at the Julian Hospital, Norwich. You will have a degree in psychology and entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society. You will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to working clinically with older people or individuals with a diagnosis of dementia, preferably with previous experience of direct care provision. A key part of this role will involve the delivery of Cognitive Stimulation Therapy to Service Users diagnosed with dementia. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and confidently with people from a range of backgrounds will therefore be of the utmost importance, as will be the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. As you will be providing input across a wide urban and rural area, some degree of travel will be required.
