Role summary
This role involves providing non-emergency patient transport services for patients who cannot travel to or from Barts Health NHS Trust hospitals due to medical or mobility conditions. Essential criteria
- BTEC or NVQ3 equivalent education
- Good knowledge of UK geography
- Clean driving license

- Previous experience of working in a healthcare setting. Dealing with the elderly or infirm
- Experience of working within a Patient transport environment
- Understanding of Data Protection, Freedom of Information and Caldicott Principles
- Should have an appreciation of the relationship between the CCG, the Patient User Group and Clinical groups
- Should have an appreciation of CQC requirements as it relates to patient transport services.
- Able to work on own initiative, organizing and prioritizing own and others workloads to changing and often tight deadlines
- Ability to complete dynamic risk assessment before patient transfer to ensure safety
- Takes decisions on difficult and contentious issues where there may be several courses of action
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to work as a team
- Clear communication (verbal, non-verbal, written)
- Active listener - Teamwork/individual

Our NEPTS is available for patients who cannot travel to or from our hospitals using any other method of transport because of their medical or mobility condition, or because their medical condition would otherwise worsen. All requests for patient transport are assessed on medical need. Transport is only provided for patients coming from their home addresses to North East London NHS Trust locations. Transport is also provided for patients going home from a North East London NHS Trust locations to a booked address stated by the ward or clinic anywhere in the mainland UK.
The NEPTS Ambulance Driver performs a key role in providing a safe transport service for patients requiring transport to and from the Trust's hospitals ensuring that all patients are transported in a timely manner in comfort and with minimal stress. The Ambula
