Role summary

Key responsibilities

  • Independently manage clinical workload, completing assessments, interventions, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Support patients, relatives, carers, and stakeholders through effective communication, handling information appropriately.
  • Contribute to the development of therapy resources, training materials, and evidence-based practice.
  • Prioritise workload, complete documentation and data entry, and contribute to audits and reporting systems.
  • Undertake appropriate risk assessments and liaise with external agencies to support ongoing patient care.
  • Apply advanced clinical expertise to manage complex communication and swallowing presentations and formulate individualised management strategies.

Essential criteria

  • HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Degree qualification in Speech and Language Therapy with relevant professional registration.
  • Postgraduate dysphagia training and competency.
  • Significant experience working with adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders, including stroke.
  • NHS experience with multidisciplinary team working and electronic patient records. Organisational, and leadership skills with experience supporting trainees and colleagues

We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

to join the Stroke Service at The James Cook University Hospital . You
