Role summary
This role is for a Senior Clinical Research Nurse, funded by the UK Dementia Trials Network and hosted by Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will provide clinical and administrative support for early phase dementia and mild cognitive impairment clinical trials. Responsibilities include study coordination, participant screening, recruitment, assessment, and data recording, ensuring compliance with regulations. Essential criteria
- NMC Registered Nurse (RGN/RMN)
- Current ICH-Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate or willingness to obtain.
- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
- Minimum 2 years' post-registration nursing experience, including NHS experience.
- Experience working with people living with dementia, neurodegenerative conditions, mental health conditions or older adults.
- Competent in medication administration (oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular and intravenous).
- Competent in venepuncture, cannulation, ECG recording and biological sample
Desirable criteria
- Mentorship/Practice Assessor qualification.
- Additional clinical research qualifications.
- Experience supporting education or training of colleagues.
- Driving
- Holds a valid full UK driving license
- Access to own vehicle for work purposes
- Research Experience
- Experience in clinical research or clinical trial delivery.
- Current ICH-Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate or willingness to obtain.
- Knowledge of ICH-GCP, UK Clinical Trial Regulations, research governance and informed consent processes.
- Understanding of the NHS Research & Development environment, NIHR research infrastructure and clinical research delivery.
- Strong commitment to research, continuous professional development and improving patient care.
- Experience in early phase dementia CTIMP, ATIMP or Phase I clinical trials.
- Knowledge of the UK dementia research landscape and early phase clinical trial delivery.
- Experience presenting research or promoting research within healthcare settings.
- Experience undertaking cognitive assessments or dementia rating scales.

Main duties of the job
As an Alzheimer's Society UKDTN Senior Clinical Research Nurse, the post holder will provide clinical and administrative support to ensure effective delivery ofearly phase dementia and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) CTIMP and ATIMP clinical trials . Working as a Study Coordinator, they will support studies from site initiation through to close-out, collaborating with Principal Investigators, research teams and study partners to ensure high-quality research delivery and participant support. They will be responsible for the coordination and management of assigned studies, including participant screening, recruitment, assessment, monitoring, informed consent, clinical procedures, biological sample collection and accurate recording of trial dataand compliance with ICH-GCP and research regulations. They will contribute to improving access to dementia research, developing referral pathways and engaging with underserved communities.
