NHS Trusts cannot issue a Certificate of Sponsorship for part-time, bank, locum, zero-hours, job-share or short fixed-term (under 12 months) contracts under current Home Office rules. This applies even when the wider Trust holds a Skilled Worker licence.
Role summary
This is an opportunity for a Specialist Physiotherapist to join a friendly, highly specialist team in Sheffield, focusing on progressive long-term neurological conditions. The role involves managing a caseload of community-based clients with complex needs, using specialist skills for assessment, planning, and intervention. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, provide leadership to junior staff, and contribute to service development and quality improvement.
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of LTNC in a relevant clinical specialty (e.g. MS,PD, MND, degenerative diseases, mental health, social care) and an ability to apply this in community setting
- Knowledge of a broad range of conditions both acute and deteriorating, affecting client group in the recovery, re-enablement and future care planning pathway
- Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance
- Ability to work as part of a team building effective working relationships
Desirable criteria
- A working knowledge of the needs of clients with mental health issues
- A working knowledge of the needs of clients with social care issues
- training and qualifications
- Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy.
- Current HCPC registration and relevant Professional Body Registration ( CSP).
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous Professional Development via personal development plans/file.
- Training from Higher Education Institution for graduate student supervision.
- First line management / Leadership course at masters level
- Relevant validated clinical courses to Masters level or equivalent knowledge / experience
- Post graduate experience in clinical speciality within the NHS
- Experience of supervising / managing / developing junior staff, rehabilitation assistants through PDR and teaching.
- Experience of audit and application and interpretation of outcome measures.
- Previous experience at Specialist level
- Experience of involvement in service development
- Involvement in research

- Meet health requirements of the Trust.
- Due to the requirement to undertake visits and transport non-portable equipment, the post holder is required to be either a car driver with a valid driving licence, or have access to an alternative means of transport

We are able to provide significant financial support for CPD.
This post is for 12 months to cover for secondment, working 33.75 hrs per week and the successful candidate will need to be able to transport themselves to visit clients in the community.
