Role summary

This is an exciting full-time permanent opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced haematology and/or oncology nurse to join the nurse-led Ambulatory and Supportive Care Day Case Unit (J87) as a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse. The role involves providing visible clinical leadership within a busy ambulatory cancer service, managing and developing the unit, and leading the nursing team. The successful candidate will deliver chemotherapy and other treatments, educate patients and staff, and contribute to operational duties.

Key responsibilities

  • Motivate, support, and develop staff, fostering a positive team culture and maintaining high standards of patient care.
  • Manage competing priorities and lead service improvements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Deliver chemotherapy, cannulation, phlebotomy, CVAD access, venesection, intrathecal chemotherapy, and administration of stem cells.

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced haematology and/or oncology nurse to join our team in a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse role to join the nurse-led Ambulatory and Supportive Care Day Case Unit (J87) in the Bexley Wing in St Jamess Hospital, a full-time permanent position.

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic individual with excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills to support the senior sister in managing and developing the unit and lead the nursing team.

We are very keen to hear from experienced registered nurses who want to work within this very close and supportive nurse-led team, who strive to give the best possible care they can to their patients and who are ready for a new challenge.

Experience of and an ability to give intravenous chemotherapy would be a considerable advantage.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced and motivated nurse who can provide visible clinical leadership within a busy and dynamic ambulatory cancer service. The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in oncology and/or haematology nursing, with a sound understanding of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) and the complex needs of patients receiving cancer treatment and supportive care.
