Role summary
This role involves undertaking decontamination science duties to provide specialized decontamination of medical devices, contributing to patient care. The technician will be responsible for the receipt, disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, packing, and sterilization of reusable medical devices, meticulously recording all tasks in a tracking database. They must ensure all products meet quality standards and work efficiently as part of a team across both hospital sites, including weekends as required.
Key responsibilities
- Reprocess reusable medical devices, including disassembly, cleaning, disinfection, checking, assembly, sterilization, dispatch, and tracking in a controlled environment.
- Work in accordance with Departmental Policy, Standard Operating Procedures, and the Quality Management System.
- Report any discrepancies to the team leader immediately and complete relevant documents for non-conformances.
- Contribute to ensuring quality assurance and production controls systems are maintained according to standard work instructions.
- Provide a collection and delivery service to the Decontamination Departments' customers.
- Undertake initial investigation into non-conformances reports as instructed and use manual dexterity for device reassembly.

Job summary
To undertake decontamination science duties in providing a specialized decontamination of medical devices service contributing to the clinical care of the patient - to carry out the receipt, disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, packing and sterilization of reusable medical devices and record all tasks in the tracking and tracing database.
To ensure that all products manufactured in the Decontamination Services department within the Trust are fit for purpose and produced in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with the Quality Manager System (QMS) relevant to the area and to work as part of a team and undertake duties as directed by the management team of the Trusts decontamination facilities.
To work in all areas of the decontamination facilities at both hospitals (Chelsea and Westminster Hospital) and weekend as and when required
