Role summary
This fixed-term role for 12 months covers maternity leave, working as a Community Children's Nurse in a Special School within Cwm Taf Morgannwg. The post holder will provide nursing care to children with additional/complex needs, plan and deliver training packages, and support healthcare staff and MDT clinics. The role requires an autonomous, motivated, and reliable individual who can also work collaboratively within a team.
Key responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to children and young people with additional/complex needs within a Special School or Observation Unit.
- Work within clearly defined occupational policies, codes of practice and professional guidelines.
- Plan and deliver training packages within the school.
- Provide ongoing support, training and supervision for a team of health care support workers and learning support assistants.
- Support the Health and MDT clinics held within the school environment.
Essential criteria
- Post registration experience in Child Health and Wellbeing
- Experience of working with children with additional/complex needs
- Good underpinning theoretical and practical knowledge in Child Health and Wellbeing
- UK NMC Registration
Desirable criteria
- Welsh Skills Speaking/Listening Skills at Level 3 or above
- Experience of working in community or school setting
- Knowledge of the 1-3 year plan for Children and Young People (IMTP)
