Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Band 3 Senior Health Care Assistant to join the Acute Speciality Medicine team at King's College Hospital. The role involves assisting in the delivery of fundamental nursing care under supervision, contributing to patient treatment and care programmes, and supporting patients with daily living activities. You will monitor clinical observations, assist with nutrition, and perform delegated clinical skills like ECG recording and specimen collection. The position requires working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and maintaining high standards of patient care.
Key responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living whilst encouraging independence.
- Monitor and record patients clinical observations, escalating appropriately to a registered nurse.
- Assist with patient nutritional needs, including eating, drinking, and special diets.
- Undertake electrocardiogram (ECG) recording and point of care testing.
- After appropriate training, assist in the collection of specimens and perform tasks like inserting/removing female catheters and assisting with advanced wound care.
- Participate in maintaining standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and infection control.
Essential criteria
- Completed Care Certificate.
- Significant experience within a care setting/environment.
- Able to communicate with the multi-disciplinary team, update others in the team and use handover effectively.
- Able to talk to people about sensitive issues in a supportive manner but also challenge others assertively where necessary
- Demonstrate excellent time management skills.
Desirable criteria
- Functional Skills Level 2 in Numeracy and Literacy or GCSEs Maths and English Grades A-C
- NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Band 3 Senior Health Care Assistant to join our team on Acute Speciality Medicine.
These positions are across Acute Speciality Medicine. We have vacancies within Health and Aging wards, Respiratory, Gastroenterology and our Medical Assessment Unit. Whilst completing the role as a Senior Healthcare assistant you will be required to assist under supervision in the delivery of fundamental nursing care in liaison with themultidisciplinary team.
