Role summary

This is a fixed-term part-time Physician Associate role in the Emergency Medicine Directorate, comprising two Urgent Care Centres and the Emergency Department. The successful candidate will work in the Emergency Department, supervised by an ED Consultant, carrying out patient reviews, assisting with tasks, and managing patients under guidance. The role involves patient consultations, assessments, clinical examinations, and ordering investigations within a multidisciplinary team.

Essential criteria

  • Minimum Postgraduate Diploma in Physician Associate Studies
  • Registered with the GMC
  • Current and valid certification or re-certification of the National Certifying
  • Passed and completed 1 year post graduate preceptorship
  • Membership of the Faculty of Physician Associates (Royal College of Physicians)
  • Experience working as a Physician Associate in an Acute Hospital or Community setting

Job summary

This is a post for Physician Associates (PA) who have successfully passed their preceptorship to join our Emergency Medicine Directorate comprising two Urgent Care Centres and our Emergency Department.

You will be expected to work in the Emergency Department. You will always be supervised by an ED Consultant and in this role you will work with the Emergency Medicine Lead Consultant as the jobs clinician carrying out reviews or assisting with tasks that will facilitate the onward referral or discharge of patients within the Emergency Department. There will also be the opportunity to carry out management plans under the guidance of the Emergency Medicine Consultant working in the Urgent Intervention Area of the Department.

Main duties of the job

As a dependant practitioner, undertake patient consultations, assessments, clinical examinations, order appropriate investigations and interpret investigation findings under the guidance of an Emergency Medicine Consultant appropriate actions. This role includes rotation across all areas of the Emergency Department and working with out multi disciplinary teams.
