Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Children's Specialist Occupational Therapist to join a dynamic, integrated children's therapy service in Portsmouth and East Hants. The role involves providing specialist OT services to children and young people with complex needs, delivering interventions based on evidence-based, person-centred principles. You will work within a community service model, supporting children in various settings like homes, schools, and clinics. This position is for maternity leave cover.
Key responsibilities
- Provide a specialist Occupational Therapy Service to children and young people, some with complex needs, using evidence-based, person-centred principles.
- Ensure high-quality, clinically effective, and cost-effective service delivery.
- Provide support, supervision, and mentoring to colleagues.
- Train students, healthcare professionals, and staff from other agencies.
- Take responsibility for a designated champion role (e.g., safeguarding, infection control, IT links).
- Maintain a high standard of clinical care, adhering to departmental standards and professional codes of conduct.
Essential criteria
- *BSc Occupational Therapy degree or equivalent
- *Registered member RCOT
- *HCPC Registration

HIOWH Children's Therapy Service has an integrated model of care across Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Podiatry working together to provide holistic support with children and their families at the centre of what we do. We have excellent working relationships with early years services, schools, health and social care colleagues. This enables us to support children and the wider community to develop creative and innovative ways of working together to better meet the needs of both the child and their family.
