Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an Associate Practitioner to join the friendly, multi-disciplinary Point of Care Testing Team. The role involves supporting Biomedical Scientists and maintaining medical devices used for patient sample testing outside the laboratory. The successful candidate will also maintain POCT databases for staff training and quality data, contributing to reports. This position is ideal for a keen, dynamic individual prepared to work shifts.
Essential criteria
- Education to Foundation Degree or equivalent preferably in a science subject(s)
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of physiology, human biology or Biomedical Sciences to Foundation Degree level or equivalent.
- Basic keyboard skills
- Experience within the NHS or within a laboratory environment
- Experience of using data bases
- Experience of using Medical devices or laboratory equipment.
- Computer literate
- Use of Basic Microsoft Office programmes
- Use of the Trust IT system/EPIC
- Use of the internet
- Intermediate Microsoft excel
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Able to work both in a team and as an individual
- Ability to work in an organised manner and to high standards
- Show attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise workload
- Phlebotomy skills
- Ability to cope under pressure
- Ability to deliver training
- Additional Requirements
- The ability to understand and behave at all times, towards patients, visitors and colleagues according to the Trust values of safe, kind, excellent.
- Ability to drive to remote sites
- Education to Foundation Degree or equivalent preferably in a science subject(s)

Job summary

Please note - this role does not require professional registration and is not a Biomedical Scientist position.
Main duties of the job
To support the Point of Care Team in maintaining and quality assuring medical devices used to test patient samples at the point of care, according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). To maintain POCT data bases of staff training, test and quality data to enable production of reports for distribution.
