Role summary

This role is for an enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse to join the dedicated team on Seaview Ward, a 14-bed mixed-sex acute admissions ward at St Ann's Hospital, Poole. The ward provides assessment, treatment, and short-term inpatient care for individuals experiencing acute mental health difficulties. The nurse will deliver high-quality, recovery-focused care, contributing to assessment, care planning, risk management, and recovery-focused interventions as part of a multidisciplinary team. A range of shift patterns are available, and professional development is supported through induction and a Preceptorship Programme for newly qualified nurses.

  • Registered Nurse (Mental Health)
  • Preceptorship or working towards it
  • Ability to take charge of a ward/case load regularly
  • Ability to supervise other staff
  • Supervised experience gained during clinical placements
  • Ability to mentor students
  • Information Technology
  • Basic IT skills, normally obtained through practice or practical training
  • Personal Qualities/Attributes
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision / unsupervised
  • Ability to work in a team and positively influence others
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and lead self effectively
  • Additional requirements
  • Ability to meet contractual requirements and participate in 24 hour care
  • A level of fitness and ability to participate and complete PMVA, Breakaway training and Manual Handling (practice and theory).
  • Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English to a standard which enables the post holder to carry out the full range of duties and responsibilities of the role effectively.

Job summary

We are seeking enthusiasticBand 5 Registered Mental Health Nurses to join our dedicated team on Seaview Ward , a 14-bed mixed-sex acute admissions ward at St Ann's Hospital, Poole .

Seaview Ward provides assessment, treatment and short-term inpatient care for individuals experiencing acute mental health difficulties. Our aim is to deliver high-quality, recovery-focused care that supports patients to stabilise, regain independence and return home with appropriate community support.

As a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you will play a key role in delivering safe, therapeutic and person-centred care to people with a range of psychological, emotional, social and physical health needs. Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to assessment, care planning, risk management and recovery-focused interventions.

We offer a range of shift patterns across a 24-hour service:

  • Night: 20:30 - 07:40
  • Early: 07:15 - 15:15
  • Late: 13:00 - 21:00
  • Long Day: 07:15 - 21:00
  • Twilight: 16:00 - 00:00

We are particularly keen to hear from applicants able to work night shifts, but welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates.
