Role summary
This is a permanent, full-time Band 5 Staff Nurse position on Ward 16, a 26-bedded surgical ward at Aintree University Hospital. The role involves assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating nursing care as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of patient care, managing your workload, and supervising less experienced staff. Key responsibilities
- Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate nursing care.
- Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and undertake delegated tasks.
- Take charge of the ward/department for a span of duty after foundation gateway completion.
- Participate in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients.
- Maintain nursing records in accordance with NMC standards and Trust guidelines.
- Manage allocated workload and provide supervision to less experienced staff.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse, current NMC registration
- BSc in Nursing (Diploma in Nursing as a minimum)
- Recent clinical nursing experience as a student or as a registered nurse
- Sound clinical nursing knowledge and a good understanding of nursing issues and clinical governance
- Demonstrates awareness of own limitations
- Ability to organise workload and delegate tasks appropriately
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to support less experienced staff
- Ability to problem solve
- Good written and verbal communication skills
